About Us

Me (Alex) and my husband (David) love travelling, coffee, food and animals. I have worked in special needs schools and Dave is a photographer. We live in Newark, Nottinghamshire when we aren't travelling. 

In 2017 we quit our jobs and went backpacking for 11 months in South east Asia. At the time we wrote a blog, which you can see under 2017 tab, but struggled to keep on top of it and ran out of storage for all our photos! We loved every second of our trip though and couldn't wait to do it again. 

On returning home we both got jobs again to replenish funds, got married and bought a house. We went on a honeymoon adventure around Sri Lanka which was fantastic but we were really getting desperate to travel full time again. Then covid hit, a few months before we were hoping to start getting working visas for New Zealand and our plans, like everyone else's, were scuppered. 

2 years later and we made the decision to just go for it, making a date to start our travels again in March 2022. We will initially be travelling Europe on a 3-month motorcycle tour, then likely to be Asia for a few months, New Zealand for 6 months, Central/South America for a few months and then Europe again for a few months. This is all flexible due to world events and if we get any good opportunities come up on Trusted Housesitters. So come explore the world again with us!
